  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Answering emails and ensuring the audit file is kept in order. In charge of Cash FSLI substantive testing which involved sending out external confirmation letters. Conducting interim controls testing and frequently interacting with the client. Using a platform called Connect which involved requesting documents from the client in order to perform the relevant sampling/testing. I have also been involved in reviewing board minutes.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I come into work and a on a daily basis I can confidently say I thoroughly enjoy my job even though at times it may be challenging due to my lack of experience. Without doubt the team around me is amazing, constantly supporting me and being more than willing to answer any questions I may have. I also enjoy it because I am always busy and take great pride in being given a sense of responsibility over certain areas of the Audit.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The 1 week's training we were given was extremely rushed and I feel at the time I didn't really understand it. Luckily throughout the Audit I was given plenty of support from my team. I feel it is really luck of the draw with regards to how much work you are given. I have heard stories of many people being given very little work by their teams however I can confidently say I have been kept busy hence my view on this programme are extremely positive.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When I ask a question the team will go above and beyond to ensure my understanding is to the level it needs to be. Instead of just answering the question I ask, they will go further than this, in the sense they explain they wider picture and give me more information than I require which helps to develop my knowledge and understand issues I raise.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I don't receive a lot of support because majority of my exams are done at university so this question doesn't really apply to me. I have an exam in January however I am so focused on working I haven't really thought about it. I haven't been given any time off to revise - this all has to be done in my own time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • What have I learn so far is more focused on central audit as oppose to a financial services audit. I feel if I had more training beforehand on a financial services audit then this would have been a lot more beneficial and made me feel slightly more comfortable within my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There have been many socials that I have got involved in. Team lunches are quite common, we have had socials at Flight Club, Ice Skating as well as Bowling. There is the office Christmas Party also which I am looking forward to. Going out for drinks is quite common also on a Friday.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • My experience of PwC has been extremely positive and I have thoroughly enjoyed working in a challenging environment. The support I have received has been nothing short of magnificent and has most certainly made for a better experience. The social aspect of working at PwC is exceptional with numerous events and lunches to partake in.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Always ask questions and try to further your understanding. If you are struggling with a task then ask for help. If you have no work then ask for work to keep yourself busy. Make sure to take on responsibility to enhance your skill set and be sure to engage in all social activities to make the most out of your experience.
