  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis, I will be on a project learning and then doing different jobs that occur within the technical consultant role. Whether this is testing, creating dashboards or floorwalking. Being able to learn and work at the same time in these scenarios is really enjoyable. Especially with a great support network around me.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Since starting the apprenticeship, I have learned a lot of new skills ranging from technical skills to personal improvement. On the technical side, I'd say that the main skill I have learned is PowerShell as I never used it before I started the apprenticeship and it is a very vital part of technical work. On the personal side, part of my role is client facing so my confidence level talking in front of a large group of people has risen a lot.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • When I started the program, I was nervous that everyone would be corporate and that it would be a very intense experience. Now that I have been here a while, I love the atmosphere here and it is more calm and relaxed than I originally thought. Another important side to keeping the program enjoyable would be that I had to make sure that my work/learning balance is manageable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is well orangised and structured. Working here, I have had a wide support network around me for any issues that I may have. I have a buddy to talk to about any issues and a mentor to speak to make sure that I am on track with my work and my studies. I also feel like I am put first in many situations and that company puts my learning first.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have a lot of support from my employer. At any given time I have a whole support network of people that I can contact. These people include my manager, my mentor, my buddy and everyone who I work with. They all have a great attitude towards supporting me through my apprenticeship.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • When working towards my qualification, I receive presentations and some additional videos to help me to study. They also provide additional reading material to the subject that I am studying in the module at the time. Sometimes just reading a 100 slide PowerPoint every week drags and therefore some information can be missed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far I have put hardly anything that I have learned into the role that I am currently doing. Having said this, some of the courses coming up relate to what I am currently doing so that will be really useful. Although what I have currently done doesn't relate to my work it is still useful.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are nights out for interns and apprentices and we spent a week in the lake district doing things such as canoeing and gorge walking. As far as I know, there are no sports activities to partake in but if there were it would be tough to join anyway as I am required to travel for work during the week.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Hewlett Packard Enterprise to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have really enjoyed my experience so far. Working and learning alongside a bunch of great people I have had a lot of great experiences. As well as building knowledge I have also grown in confidence and improved as a person while being here. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Hewlett Packard Enterprise?
  • In the application process be confident and be honest. Make sure that you talk to HPE employees about their time at HPE and any advice that they may have. It has been very useful to me. Also, say yes to any experiences that are offered to you. You won't regret doing so.
