Being in the channel side of the business, it is my job to engage with partners (resellers) and ensure they are thoroughly supported in selling HPE products to end users. Also, undertaking projects through out the year like becoming subject matter experts in HPE certified tools and driving engagement with it within the channel.
The sales training has been profoundly beneficial and I now know what techniques to use within a cold call. Even if this isn't my job role, it allows me to empathize with our partners as they have to do this on a daily basis. I've also started to learn time-keeping skills which are useful in any industry.
I have been heavily supported since joining HPE and their culture has been imprinted on me. It is by far the most exciting career I have done this far and the team have already made a great impact on me and taught me their values. It has exceeded my expectations.
Since day one, my employer already had everything set up for the next two years. The on-boarding process was very thought out and our support system is very intensive. I have been given a buddy, a sales mentor and a program mentor which means I've always had someone to ask questions without feeling lost.
My manager always makes the effort to catch up with me when available to see how I am getting on and if I need any extra support which I never do due to having three mentors that are just a phone call away and schedule weekly catch ups with me.
They are always there to give guidance if we need it and they are always more than happy to help if we are struggling and always try to push us to do more than we think we can do. They do monthly 1-1s with us just to make sure we are feeling comfortable in the role.
I am not sure if our provider has ever worked with vendors before, but they haven't tailored it to our job so it can be quite confusing when we learn theory from them and there's no way of us putting it into practice. We have tried to explain to them what they are teaching isn't related to our role in anyway, but they claim it's a generic program and it needs to be done.
They allow us to have 8 hours a month paid work to go volunteering for our local community which is incredibly rewarding. There are so many events going on all the time (at least twice a month) which we would be expensed for and it is great networking and brilliant new things to do that I haven't done before.

HPE are one of the biggest vendors out there in the IT industry and they never fault looking after their employees with the culture they run by. They have exceeded my expectations by miles and there is never a dull moment. You also still have a social life ingrained whilst working and that will never go away.
Prepare for the assessment day and don't expect to wing it. It is a very competitive atmosphere so make sure to do your research before and don't get thrown off by any questions. Be prepared for a very full on on-boarding process trying to get your head around all the products, but there will always be support available for you.
