Within my role as an IT technical sales apprentice I work within a team called channel. Channel is made of different groups and the group I work within is re seller this entails visit partners which sell HPE. This means the role is very active and getting out and about is a vital part of my role. I also complete training weekly gaining great knowledge on all HPE products.
I have learnt many new skills over my first 5 months. A big one of these is my presenting skills which have been developed over the first few months this is because being able to speak to large groups of people is important for my role. Not only this but even simple skills such as sending emails properly and how to communicate in the correct way.
When starting the programme I was worried as I thought I might be out of my comfort zone this is because im not a very 'techy' person. However I have thoroughly enjoyed the first 5 months of the programme and the aspect of pushing myself and trying new things have really made me enjoy it.
My programme has been planned very well by everyone involved this process started before we even came for the assessment day. For my first two months of on boarding there was a plan for everyday and we knew what was expected from us each day. I couldn't fault the prep in any way.
I have received a lot of support throughout my first few months, At HPE you are given a programme mentor, Sales mentor and a buddy these are really good for when you first join as you will have constant support. You can use these mentors to help you with simple tasks or ask question to do with your role.
I have received lots of support during my apprenticeship they ring me on a monthly basis to ask how the apprenticeship is going and what I have been doing in terms of my role at HPE. Not only this but they also offer support when coming to visit and have catch ups face to face.
I feel that some of the training is very good and well tailored to what we are doing in our everyday job. However some of the stuff we have been doing in training inst important for our role and it could be tailored more effectively towards our job role within work.
I have been getting involved with lots of volunteering activities such as going helping at a children home. Also we have set up a five aside football team for me and the other apprentices to play in every Wednesday. There are loads of different activities to get involved in at HPE.
Yes
I would recommend HPE to a friend as its a brilliant place to work with loads of different opportunities to develop a strong career within the industry. Because of the people here and the way the company is run it is a brilliant place to come into work with everyday new opportunists coming up.
When applying make sure you are yourself. This is something thats important for when working at the company as everyone is appreciated for being different and valued with what they bring to the company. Also make sure you understand what HPE is as a company so what there values are this is a massive part of working here.
