  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • At the minute i'm at college full time studying a PEO in Engineering and a BTEC Level 3 in Advanced Manufacturing. I study at college 9-5 everyday. I will be starting back at Plant in August where I will work on different 3 month placements around the business so I can find what area is the most suited for me.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I feel I have learnt several new skills throughout the apprenticeship. Some skills i feel that I have developed are my team working skills as well as my time management and resilience. I have also found that I have became more independent since staring my apprenticeship as well as massively improving my engineering knowledge.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my apprenticeship and feel that it matches my expectations of what i thought the apprenticeship would be like before starting. I enjoy all aspects of the apprenticeship but most enjoy the practical hands on skills and the new skills which i am learning in advanced manufacturing methods.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel like the programme is structured as we know what we will be doing over the next 3-4 years of the apprenticeship. We have been told where we will be working when we go back to plant and what we will be doing. I feel the apprenticeship has been very organized

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When at college we get regular visits from our employer to check that we are getting on well. We also have quarterly reviews to review pur progress to make sure we are on track with all out objectives. We are also able to contact our employer if we need anything.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive a high amount of support from our training provider as we are currently with them full time. They provide support throughout our studies and are there to help if we struggle with anything. We are able to talk to them if we have any issues with the training are receiving.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Due to not working on plant at the current moment I am not fully sure on how the qualification will support my job role but i feel the engineering knowledge we are learning and the engineering skills we are learning it will massively support all roles in the workplace i may be working

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • When starting the apprenticeship we took part in a week residential to build team skills. There are also a sports center at the factory. The college which we attended also has a wide range of extra curriculum activities which we can take part in such as sport activities and other social activities.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I think that the apprenticeship is a great opportunity of anyone who wants to get a career in the automotive/engineering industry. I think BMW is an excellent employer and the apprenticeship is great. The degree apprenticeship which i am on is excellent as they are putting you through your degree.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • When applying to BMW you need to make sure you are interested in engineering and have a passion to work in the industry. You must make sure that you have a hard working and resilient mindset and be willing to be challenged in difficult situations which you may come across in the apprenticeship.
