  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • everyday is different. I sometimes work earlys and other days lates. In the morning we work are stock and deliveries. We have to put the stock out before we open at 8am to our customers. Then I spend time on the till serving customers and helping them with their shopping. Sometimes you replen the shop floor too.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt about cash handling. I had to learn how to count change for the customer and how to give good service. Sometimes if they have a query I help them. At the end of my shift I have to balance my till again back to £300 which is tricky.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • really good i like it. I am glad I did this program as it has made me less nervous and more happy. I like working with people and I like how busy the shop is so time goes by quickly and you never clock watch in Aldi which is good.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • very supportive store manager. I meet with my trainer regularly and they set my work to do. If I have a question I can ask my trainer or my store manager to help me. everything is clear and I know what I have to do by when so it is very clear.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • my team are very helpful. My store manager spends time answering my questions but often I speak to our deputy store trainer if I need help. I always am given time to meet my trainer and my rota's are given 4 weeks in advance so I can plan my work.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • they set me work nad explain things well. I see them all the time they call into the store to check on my work and answer my questions. Sometimes it can be a few weeks before I hear from them again and then we book in a new meeting in my store

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • it had made me more confident. now I work with customers who sometimes get angry it has taught me patience and good customer service. My qualification makes me a better employee because I have learnt more and my studies helpme understand aldi more. I think it has made me smarter.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • my store are very friendly an dnice and we sometimes go out for food or drinks if it is someones birthday. Some of the boys in my store play football together but i am not interested in football so i do not play. People are good at swapping shifts though so you can go out with your friends

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Aldi pays good money. They have been very supportive and everyone in the store is really nice to me I have made loads of new friends and learnt new skills. Sometimes it is hard with difficult customers but my managers are really helpful and can help you if someone is angry toeards you.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • at aldi you have to be prepared to work really hard. they pay more because the work is harder. It is not a bad thing, you just have to want to work hard. Do your research before applying so you will know if aldi if for you or not as it is not for everyone.
