  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is the same as a store assistant. Some of the tasks I do involve; scanning the customers items with accuracy, ensuring the shop floor is tidy with no obstacles, putting out stock whether it’s freezer, chill, ambient or specials. I also make sure there is no off sales if possible and everything is rotated and in date. At the end of the day my role may involve me de-carding the whole store to make it tidy.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Working here has developed my communication with both work colleagues and customers, it has also developed my focus to ensure I’m accurate but also can speak to the customer. I have also developed working under pressure and reaching time targets. A new skill I learnt is how to operate the tills and how to change the bailer.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I am doing. I like being able to work and learn in the working environment and show/prove my learnings by completing my units. Being able to gain a qualification while working and being paid is a great process for me. I believe the programme is a perfect balance between practical and theory work.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very organised and well structured. I always know the dates for visits and deadlines for my work. I get plenty of time to complete the work I am giving. I always get plenty notice of the next dates to have my work completed and ready for review.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel I get lots of support from my employer and work colleagues. They’ve made me feel comfortable to ask questions when I am confused on something or need help. When I do a good job it doesn’t go unnoticed and if I am doing something the wrong way I will be corrected and helped.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • She is very supportive. She will always ask how I am getting on with work and how I am coping. I know if I had any queries or confusion with my work I would be able to email her for guidance or support. She encourages me to complete my units and tells me when I do well.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I think it does help me preform better. Usually when you do things you do it out of instinct or cause you are told to. The qualification goes through everything and justifies what we do and why we do it. This makes me preform better because it gives a better understanding to why we do it.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I don’t think so

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Aldi is a great work place where I have learned new skills and made new friends. Everyone at Aldi is very nice and helped me whenever I needed it. Having been there over half a year now I still have no complaints and time always goes so quick while working there.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • A tip I would give is to not stress about not knowing where everything is or don’t worry about your till speed, it takes time working at Aldi to learn everything and it will come. Advice I would give is as long as you are willing to put in your full effort at Aldi you will do well.
