  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • It involves managing liquidity for the society to ensure we have enough to cover outflows and repayments. I also access money markets to attract wholesale funding to help us meet liquidity requirements by contacting brokers and offering appropriate rates of interest for this. I analyse investment opportunities to help increase liquidity efficiency.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learned a variety of skills. Firstly, the ability to analyse and understand global financial markets. While it is impossible to say with absolute certainty understanding them helps with forecasting and improves investment decisions. I have learned how to represent the company in a professional manner while still being sociable and friendly with clients.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • For the first month or so there were issues with my provider which practically halted my educational progress, however this allowed me to focus solely on fitting into the business and learning the practical skills required for the job. Once these issues were solved my learning has smoothly progressed and has been excellent.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualifications I am aiming to achieve mostly cover the regulation and environment of the markets. This has helped me in my role as there is vast regulation of financial markets and breaching these regulations can have severe consequences for me as an individual and the business as a whole.
