  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role as a deputy manager is looking over 30 selectors dealing with picking for few stores and getting it wrapped and ready to be shipped. Also booking in stock and moving to the right storage slots. It is a very challenging and fast paced job keeping you on your feet

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This is a really good place to work if you would really like to build your experience and learn to work hard and long hours, there is high pressure from the start so you really get to learn how to cope from the get go. Management is generally good as long as you can achieve what is required of you on a daily basis

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The hardest part of the job is the consistent changing of the shifts and there is no consistency in terms of day to day work hours the body really cannot adapt very quickly from doing various different shift times during the week. The most enjoyable part of the job is probably working with the team in the store and you come across all different types of people and characters and learn how to deal with and coexist with all of them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Company focused on productivity, a good place to work.Teamwork important to allow the workload to be completed. Productivity bonus payments very fair and good. If you enjoy being constantly on the go then this is the job for you, customer service is key and multi tasking. Overall ALDI is a great place to work

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The job itself is easy, its just general retail duties, stack shelves and serve customers. There is no real progression its just a carrot that is dangled down to all employees. Money is not great, its good for supermarket pay but terrible compared to the rest of the job sector

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • working at Aldi is a challenge, day in day out, the company don't try to hide this and is explained immediately upon starting with the company. the business runs on a model with limited numbers of staff and therefore a lot is demanded of their staff, to those that have energy and passion it is a very enjoyable workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • You are on a time limit with everything you do, a certain time for each pallet you work depending what. Is on the pallet, the management do nothing to help, you are expected to stay after your hours you are on the rota to finish everything. If you work hard this is the job for you.
