  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role is in the Marketing sector and I work specifically in Internal Communications. I produce content on the intranet (Your Sage) which is accessible to all colleagues in Sage. I help the engagement of the colleagues and any projects or announcements that are coming up I help create a communications plan.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, I have learned a number of different skills when I joined Sage. I have always been confident but I got the chance to speak to over 200 colleagues about my experience and that pushed me outside my comfort zone and so glad I did this. Another big skill I have developed is learning to deal with stakeholders.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I love my job so much but I have had several problems with the apprenticeship side of the job and have had assessors that have moved and not being able to have that support. As we a based in London the apprenticeship provider travels to us and gives us support once a month but in Newcastle they get weekly support. Sage supports me very well and gives me more time to focus on this.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I have 20% of my working hours dedicated to working on my apprenticeship. I have weekly meetings with my manager and my team and my manager speaks to my assessor monthly. I have calls with my assessor if I cannot see her and she helps me with any tasks I am stuck on.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My tutor helps a lot but we do not have enough time as we only see each other once a month and we need to do a lot of prep before that and it is hard to get into contact with the assessor. The assessor is great though and I have learned so much from her.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification has helped me with my work in the company. I have learnt a number of new skills such as... - Managing stakeholders - Budgets - Managing my time more effectively - Prioritising my time ( using my 20% every week) I understand more about how businesses run and how to sell and negotiate in a business.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Sage to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I have referred a friend to Sage as I love the culture of Sage. You feel part of a family when you join the company and all colleagues want the company to succeed and help other colleagues on the way. There is a big route of progression in the company.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Sage?
  • Be yourself as Sage love it if you are just you. Sage are new and social so if you could learn more about social media it will help you understand more when you join. The on-boarding welcome is great and you learn all about our products as well. If you are apprentice there is a big route for progression.
