  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • i am a general manager for a busy seaside restaurant, i am part of the harvester chain. my day to day activities include financial forecasting, keeping track of the business profits, stock and ordering, customer care, staff training, personal development, plus i hvae an exterior people role within my district where i track and monitor others learning.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • yes, time managemnet has had the biggest impact on shift. my team respond to the more focused "me" my rBM has also fed back that i have a deeper understanding of business and models and cultures that can affect my work. I wouold say that handys culture opened my eyes, and learning to balance will and skill amongst my team.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i enjoy it greatly, there isnt a moment oof my time i feel is wasted. if anything its focusing me to do better on all my projects and work in my site. i have passed my first module and im thriving off of the feedback given so far. i want to go further once i have completed lv5

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • very, ive noticed one module links into another and the research and reading links back so im constantly overlapping. my tutors are approchable, fun and enthusiastic about what they are teaching. the content is well planned with reasonable time scalles set, especially as most of us are managers with full time jobs.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • lots! mitchells and butlers fund me to travel, stay over, miss work and work each week towards my studies,. they have said it will benefit the busiensss. the feedback during my reviews has also confirmed this case. i will name my RBM Bryan Smith as a very supportive line manager.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • some, under which you can include all of our district meetings and our big gala award show each year. we have the rpide awards in birmingham which are a huge treat as well as 6 weekly dostrict meetings and socials following and 1-2-1 time with direct peers. we also have a yearly radshow to discuss new inititives and lastly our CEO holds a meeting for every GM kin M&B.

  • Yes

  • ive been with M&B for 14 years. in thsat time ive had job security, benefits, ive never worried aboutmy wages, or my job. its comforting to me having such stability. i recommend m&b for these reasons and more, ive employed or found employment for many family memebrrs and all of them have multiple years service.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mitchells & Butlers?
  • be noest, be prepared to work hard and you will reap a reward. be flexible, embrace vcahnge and new ways oof working. dont resent others for offering support, it isnt a sign of failure. Remeber that your district is your family, you all share the same end goal and it is crucial to foster that connection
