  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • On a day to day basis I meet with my team either on Hangout or in person, and complete the tasks given to me. My day consists of some admin, speaking to a lot of people within PwC, and some more interesting activities like delivering presentations or traveling to London / Birmingham for wider team meetings. I also attend college and study for exams.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have become adept at using Google Suite and creating PPT or Google Slides presentations. In the last six months I have also greatly developed my communication and time management skills, and can now confidently work remotely from my team. I will be changing roles in the next week when I move on to my second rotation and I expect to have a lot of exposure to Microsoft Excel and Salesforce.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I greatly enjoy working for PwC and have found it to be the most challenging, fulfilling workplace I have experienced. There is so much to get involved with outside of my role and everybody is friendly, helpful and inspiring. I do enjoy the school leaver program and think it is an excellent way to get your foot in the door of a job like this without the need for university, however I would definitely prefer the work to be a bit more challenging - sometimes the pace feels a little slow. However there is plenty of room to supplement your daily tasks and internal work gives a great footing for your future career in management consulting.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program is well organised and structured, but it is clear that it is constantly evolving in order to improve. Overall we have a lot of support from college, our career coaches, colleagues around the office and the members of staff involved in administrating the apprenticeship scheme. We have a lot of training as part of the scheme and simply as part of PwC, and all get a lot of support from our managers.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a lot of support from PwC, and have many people to go to for any number of issues I may face. My team members and managers are always happy to help with role-related queries and I have a career coach to ensure I am staying on track and happy with my life at work. There are also many people involved with the apprenticeship who I can go to for clarification of what I should be doing.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Kaplan delivers a lot of content in quite a short amount of time, but my first exams are less than two weeks away and I feel confident that I will do well. We are provided additional revision help and plenty of resources to succeed. They are excellent at replying to emails.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I feel my qualification is useful in giving a basic understanding of business, and that will likely come in useful at some point in the future. I didn't study Business or Economics at A Level so most of the content is new to me, however none of it has been useful in my role yet.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are so many extra-curricular activities to get involved in - and if there is something else you want to see you can create it. There are networking events, I am on the Health and Wellbeing committee in Leeds, and I play in a work netball league. The community in the Leeds office is very close knit and we socialise together regularly.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is a place to work which is flexible and fulfilling, with excellent career prospects. The work is challenging and people work hard, but everyone also makes time to take part in things they are interested in as well. Everybody has a lot of autonomy over their work and day to day will be doing many different things, which keeps work interesting.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Practice for the online tests, but remember that they are looking for certain characteristics so it is better to be yourself than to get offered a job that won't suit you. Everybody is really friendly and wants you to do well, so there is no need to be daunted during the application process. Ask as many questions as you have - we will be happy to answer anything!
