Trainee associate Review

I work in the corporate tax division. This means that I look after a wealth of clientele and make sure that they are tax compliant in the UK and other countries too. This can range from transfer pricing, deals, IF100 tax, private clients and also small businesses. It is rewarding

I believe that one skill that has been developed would be persistence. A lot of hours go into a project so sticking with it and ensuring it is completed to a high standard is the most important. I also think my people skills have improved becuase this is a people business.

I enjoy the challenge of solving complex and wide ranging problems. I also like the day to day variety of the work. This is largely driven by the size of the firm and the variety of people and clients we have. It means that there is always something you will be interested in

The program is structured well. There are various opportunities to ask questions and adapt your programme to your needs. Our college tutors are very knowledgeable and accessible which makes a large difference especially coming straight out of school. We also have internal training sessions which are aimed to help our knowledge of what we do day to day.

Our employer is very supporting whether that be with college, work or even outside of work. This includes flexi working hours as well as working from home. This is very beneficial because it gives us flexibility and adapt work around outside commitments. This means that it is easier to balance work and life.

We have various college days which are run at Kaplan. In addition, we are provided will all the necessary materials for all of our modules. Also, the people in the office are always willing to help. This is useful when your college tutors are not reachable and you need something answered urgently.

The qualification is applicable to my day to day job so it is very useful to my job. In our first 18 months we study the ATT which has modules in income tax, BPT, accounting, law, ethics and corporate tax. This means that we get a wide array of knowledge regarding tax and the different areas.

We have various societies ranging from sports to religious and wellbeing groups. I for one have joined the football team and am also active in the mental health wellbeing group and Middle Eastern business group. It allows you to meet like minded people and expand your network organically through events.

It is a great place to work where the tasks you complete make a real impact. You will definitely see the work you do in the news. In addition, the people working here are amazing and support you through the first stages of your career. This makes a huge difference

Be yourself, if you go through the process being someone else you might not enjoy it as much when you are working here full time. Also ensure that you use the practice materials provided by PwC when it comes to your online tests and assessment centres. They help a lot
