  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work on multiple projects within the tax team where I am in contact with very large clients and I play a part in very important projects. I complete various smaller pieces of work within other departments as well. I also spend some time at college completing my professional qualification

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am currently completing my professional qualification where by the end of the program I should become a chartered accountant. This gives me a good technical knowledge which is topped up by on the job training. PwC also give you a lot of guidance in networking skills and help you to build up a large professional network.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The work is very varied and is not boring as the size of the clients and projects keeps the job interesting. The team is very nice and I often go out on socials with both my work team and my intake. There is also a fair amount of travel which keeps the days different and engaging.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I am the first in my exact program within my office do at the start there was a lot of trying to find out what I was doing exactly, but there is a whole department within PwC that looks after the student and grad roles so this information was easy to find. PwC also book your professional wulaifcstuon and training for you.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • They offer a lot of training and assist in getting qualified. We also have a specific career coach who looks after us and makes sure we are doing the right things both in general and specifically within our job role. There are so many different departments which are there to assist in practically everything that we need

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are given self study days as well as revision and learning days which we do not need to use up our holiday allowance. They also provide us with all the necessary equipment that we need for example our legislation, pens, paper etc. The internal training is also applicable to the majority of our exams

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Getting the qualification gives a deeper technical understanding to the work that we do on a day to day basis and also gets us chartered which makes us more valued. We also pick up a lot of information from on the job training which we wouldn’t necessarily get from our qualifications

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • They have a lot of socials in PwC, they regularly order pizza for the whole office and have Friday drinks, usually covered by a social budget. They have sport committees which subsidies football teams. The office parties are always great and they are quite frequent - I had about 4 major events within my first 3 months of joining.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • They are a very large company which will give a great kick start to your career. The people are always nice and give you an opportunity to complete important work which you often see a couple of weeks later in the news. You are treated as a serious professional and are valued within your team.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • Make sure that you come across as a good people person as PwC is very hot on getting people to build up a large network. Be excited about the work and the industry and read up on the recent news happening in our sector as there is a lot currently happening.
