  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work within the tax, technology and innovation team at PwC, which is comprised of many roles. During my apprenticeship, I will spend 6 months within each sub team which will give me great experiences across the board. In my first rotation I am working for the Suite BAU team so I am responsible for replying to customers emails, onboarding clients and pulling analytics for the website.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am completing the CFAB accounting qualification with Kaplan externally. Internally I have massively upgraded my skills in excel and in writing professional emails. I have also learnt some new programs such as Alterys and Power BI. When I rotate to the D&A team I will also learn how to use Tableau.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed my time so far at PwC. Coming straight from school I expected to be joining a corporate environment that was purely focused on working, money and results. I was surprised when I met so many great people after joining and it definitely exceeds the expectations I had before.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured well for such a large organisation. The initial introduction week was very helpful in allowing me to find my feet and meet some new people that Im working with. I also have a career coach, who is the first port of all for any support that I need.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I get a great deal of support from PwC. All of my seniors within the team are happy to help me if i ever need anything at work. They also are able to get support for me for my external studies, by finding an expert on the topic even if they aren't.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • They are able to get support for me for my external studies, by finding an expert on the topic even if they aren't. The team I work in can feel slightly detached from my qualification as it is all taught externally, but when I am away for college they are supportive and would allow me to take extra time off if needed for exam study

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My CFAB qualification does allow me to gain more knowledge of the industry that Im in, however, it is not actually that relevant to my day to day job. I work more in technology so an accounting qualification is always going to have limited relevance but it is necessary to progress in my role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are tonnes of events and activities within PwC. Within my team there is often drinks and other social events after work or training. Across PwC there are a wide range of almost any event (Sports, drama....) and there are also many volunteering schemes that allow people to give back to the community around them.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Its a great culture of people and there is great opportunity for career progression. They will get you up to speed with the qualifications that you need in the industry and also they are one of the largest professional service firms for a reason - They deliver great, high quality work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • The application process is quite long and tiring for PwC. In the assessment days, ensure that you are ready to speak in the group task and also make sure you encourage others to speak who may be a bit more quiet. For the interview just make sure you have some great examples to back up times when you've demonstrated the PwC professional.
