  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I prepare clients VAT Compliance on a monthly basis, this includes data collection, VAT Return preparation, and VAT Return filings. I also have an active role in a variety of other teams within VAT, two of these being the Social Team and the Query Team. In the social team we get to organise social events which is fun.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained a huge technical knowledge by working alongside going to college, I feel like this has really accelerated my learning. Also, my excel skills have improved drastically. I have also improved my communication and confidence since joining the firm, even from the first day everyone values your opinion.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy the programme I have signed up for, it is good to have the opportunity to go to college which breaks up the working week. Also, when you go to college you will meet many people who are around your age working at a similar firm, so you will make friends.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I feel like my programme is very well organised by the firm, all college assignments are organised by PwC and we get regular emails updating us about our next dates we have at college. The training provider also provide you with a tutor who we communicate with on a regular basis to make sure everything is going smoothly.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We receive a lot of support from our employer. From day 1 we are given career coaches and we are assigned buddies who are able to answer any questions we have about either personal or professional issues. I didn't realise how many questions I would initially have, so having these support options were really useful.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We receive a lot of support from the training provider, they provide us with tutors online who are available to answer any question you may have, and I believe these work 7 days a week, so even if you are revising on a weekend, the tutors will be able to answer questions when you get stuck.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification is highly suited to my role, there is a lot that I have learnt in my job which helps me in college, and there is also a lot that I have learnt in college which helps me with my job. This is highly effective as it speeds up the learning process.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • We have monthly social activities and also the separate smaller teams will organise sporting events such as 5 a side football or badminton. We are also pushed to join in with as many professional networking events as possible as this will strengthen your relationships with people in other parts of the business.

  • 9a. Would you recommend PwC to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would really recommend this firm to a friend as it feels like a great place to work as you are kept motivated as you are fully supported with your career ambitions. Also the firm promotes flexible working which can be really helpful around exam periods when you need to leave slightly earlier to go and revise.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to PwC?
  • The main tip I would give anyone is that, PwC promote diversity, so just be yourself. I was surprised at how different everyone here is, and everyone is offered equal opportunities, it doesn't matter what your background is. Another tip I would offer is to be aware of current affairs and how this affects the business.
