  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Everyday is quite different as it depends on the client you are working on, which is one thing I love about the job! However one the whole, most days involve working with fellow team members (Can be 1 - 12 people depending on the size of the job) and testing areas of the clients financial statements. To start with you do testing on areas such as cash, expenses and you are coached through the tasks by senior team members

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed a lot more confidence in myself and the work that I do. As you often have to take charge of one certain area of the job, you have to be sure of yourself and what you're doing and I am grateful to have gained more confidence. I have developed my leadership skills, and communication skills also. I am also continully working towards mY qualification with the ICAEW.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do love the programme. You do really feel part of the team from the get go as your work matters and what you do matters so you feel connected and together in that way. I also love the fact that I can work on many different clients within the year, I love the variety and change. Like any job however there are deadlines and it can be tough, but like I mentioned before usually you have a set time period you are on a job so you know the stress won't be forever

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is quite well organised. You have your study/college time blocked out on your schedule well in advance so you don't get booked to any clients during that time period. You get emails from the training provider well before each stint of college so you are prepared and know the schedule ahead.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • When you join you get assigned a peer mentor who gives you a general overview of what you expect and gives you guidance and are your first port of call for any issues. You also have a Career Coach, who is like your personal manager who again you can go to with any issues and who you go to to review the year when its time for feedback

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The tutors are very helpful and knowledgeable, they give you their personal email address so you can ask them any additional queries or for any clarification throughout the time up to your exam. The time frame for the exams, especially the first few can be quite intense however if you put the hours in and use all the resources available to you (which there are a fair bit of) you will be successful

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The study and so exams do feed into the practical work you do day to day. And first it may not feel like all of this information feeds into your day however it is so rewarding when you're on a client and something in mentioned within the team, or when you're testing you suddenly remember something you have been told at college and it helps you

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is a social every month, and there are also various office sporting teams (football, rugby, cricket) so there is plenty to get involved in! There is also a yearly summer ball as well as the Christmas party. You get emails informing you of all these events plus more throughout the year
