  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • With regards to new skills, I feel organising and time keeping is a new skill I have developed, learning how to be a QS has allowed me to become more organised inside and outside of work. My communication/social skills have improved even more, I'm not a shy person, but during my time on a construction site I have learned to work well with a team and develop good relationships with subcontractors. so I suppose my team-working skills have also improved. My I.T. skills have also improved as I am always on the computer with my job. Possibly my overall confidence as this job entails a lot of communication and sometimes conflict.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my job/apprenticeship, every day is different with a quantity surveyor as they have so many responsibilities. everyone I work with is friendly and are good work colleagues. I also enjoy what I am studying in college as it has an overview of construction roles, however, I would like to focus more specifically on quantity surveying in the near future.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Personally I am happy with structure of my apprenticeship. I know who to contact if I feel upset or unhappy with my job or college internally with Engie. I am also happy with how often my training manager visits as he is based in north England. However, my line manager is always on-site with me so if there are any problems I can address them to him.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel like I have already answered this. But my employer provides me with the support I need if I should need. My training manager akes quarterly visits which I feel is enough. I feel I have the support of my line manager if I need it, he provides me with tasks and reminds me that if I have any queries or problems I just need to ask/talk to him. With regards to college my employer/line manager gives me time in work to carry out assignments if I should need it.
