Currently in my job I am setting up all of the NTC contract onto Engie Office 365. I book appointments with people and I show them the Engie system such as their 'engie emails' or their OneDrive or SharePoint. I also help people with their training if they have any problems logging on I shall see if I can fix it if not I pass it over to the SSC ITSD.
I have learnt new skills being in a different department. I have been given more independence and but that came with more responsibly of managing the workforce in relation to Engie's network. I am more of an IT person so moving onto the workforce development I am developing that knowledge.
I enjoy what I do very much it isn't a day-to-day job this is more of a managerial role with the amount of responsibility I am given. I enjoy it more as I am more of an IT person so I can fix the majority of things thanks to learning off the SSC ITSD of how to fix the simple things.
I think my programme is well structured. I am having to move round different areas for the qualification I am doing, but this is giving me more experience in a wider area as I am doing payroll, workforce development and customer service. I think it is well organised for me to get the most out of my qualification and to get the best grade I can.
I receive a fair amount of support. However , I only get it when I ask for it as most tasks and college work I do is independent or I know what I am doing. My main support currently for what I am doing is the SSC ITSD, I have certain people who I email and they will help me and if they cant via email they give me a ring and sort it out over the phone.
I enjoy the course that I am doing which is a 'Customer Service Specialist Standard L3'. The college tutor that I have is very helpful and emails you within that day to get back to you which is really good when your trying to get your college work done and up to a high standard.
I think it will help with the talking to people as it will help me with the delivery of the speech I have to give when telling people what the system is. It also helps me with my emails and replying to people in a more professional way and making sure I say when is needed.
We don't have many extra-curricular activities at NTC. We have Pilates and kick boxing. We do the occasional work-place games but we don't have many opportunities to do anything as a group or workforce. Over at the SSC at Quorum, they do day trips to York and Edinburgh where you pay for a coach to take you down and back and you go get drunk or do a day tour around the town.
Yes
Because it is a good company to work for the perks you get are pretty good as well as you are working for an international company for you have opportunists to go all over the world for jobs if you wanted too. It also gives you good progression in areas that you might want.
Make sure that you enjoy what you do as if you don't enjoy what you are doing you won't have fun and that is what it is about getting your work done but also having fun whilst doing it. Dont be scared to ask all the managers are friendly (some don't look it) but they are willing to help you.
