My work is fully site based and I carry out a number of tasks that relate to health and safety, quality assessment, staff management, organising orders for site. I have also been in charge of paperwork such as SHEQ forms and the snagging process on site so that he building can be handed over
I have developed many different skills on site such as how to encourage the work force to push on with work. I have learnt a large variety of skills on site relating to the health and safety and how to ensure a safe working environment. I have also been put onto many different courses to encourage my skill set.
I enjoy the program to an extent where I am learning and progressing on site at a very fast place I believe that the experience that I am gaining is invaluable. I believe the amount of responsibility on site has allowed me to further myself faster than I would if I had little to do. however college is a lot of work and can be stressful
the structure of my program in regards to in company time I believe is well organised as we have regular meetings and support if we require to talk to someone for advice regarding decisions. however the project is expected to finish yet and there has been no conformation as to where I will be working next. thee programme in regards to college is very poor and is not organised at all with most of the tutors confused as to what is happening each lesson. this is very off putting
support from the employer again is good, there are meetings and informal conversations to keep track of progress and ensure that I am not becoming to stressed with work on site. we have been given the opportunity to have most technologies needed, as well as knowledge. however at times support can be poor from lower management
I believe that the training provider does not give the best level of support that is needed when working towards the NVQ as this has been difficult to find time in work to allow me to carry out any aspect of the NVQ. all other work has been carried out at home
The HNC and NVQ that I am working towards has aided the way that I work on site as I had little to none experience of knowledge of construction before I started with the company. If I had not been on the course I would not have known the basics of construction without the course.
I am a very active individual who enjoys sports and activities. however there are no chances to gain any knowledge or experience working with the team outside of work. this is a shame as there are many opportunities for team bonding and activities to unwind in a very stressful workspace
Yes
Engie is a friendly company that has welcomed me in to the company very quickly and has encouraged me to develop my knowledge and experience of the work that I am carrying out. I have also been given a laptop and tablet which has made my work process far easier to carry out
When applying to engie be prepared to work hard and engage in the team atmosphere on sites. having a good understanding of construction would be very beneficial for the advice. when applying be ready to undertake a lot of studying to further yourself which will allow for the work you carry out to be at a higher level
