my role within the engie company is to support the company in performing maintenance tasks to parts of the plant, at all times I am expected to adhere to company rules and procedures following work methods and health and safety practices. I am also encouraged to help apprentices who are yet to complete their time by offering help and sharing any experience I have.
in my time with engie, I have learnt many new skills and also gained many new qualifications from basic knowledge of hand tools to obtaining my IOSH managing safely certificate, these new skills and qualifications will help my further develop my career within engie so that maybe one day I can begin training to become an engineer
my whole experience with engie has been good, I have made many new friends in work and also outside of work as part of the apprenticeship required me to spend time in Loughborough completing practical and theoretical tasks to prove competency and learn new skills, overall the apprenticeship has been an enjoyable experience
the programme I undertook was very well organised and structured, my first two years where spent between engie sites and Loughborough at the uniper engineering academy learning new skills, although these two years were very well organised I felt that on completion of the apprenticeship there was no lead on and a few weeks of uncertainty was had as I waited to learn if I would gain a position within engie
I receive much support from my employer, if I have any concerns then I would not hesitate to speak to someone. throughout the apprenticeship I have always felt that I have been supported well, my colleagues and foremen would always help with my studies and if I had any concerns they were there to put my mind at ease.
my training provider was brilliant, the work was well taught and when I started the NVQ there was constant support and discussions available , I managed to complete the NVQ 12 months ahead of planned which allowed me more time to learn the plant and also to enjoy my work without the need to take photos or write job reports
my qualification allows me to do my role so I feel that my qualification is essential. I believe that through gaining the NVQ through such a highly regarded provider as uniper then it gives me good scope for future jobs if ever I feel I would like to change in the future.
the work life balance is important to me, luckily with engie and especially dinorwig we have a social club, the events of which I have attended a few have been brilliant, I feel this promotes a good team ethic and gives staff something to look forward to , I also believe they are good for making new connections within the industry.
Yes
engie pay well and are a global company, the diversity of the business allows for you to be anything you want to be and supports that, they look for the best training providers and have a very good outlook on health and safety which was a strong factor in me choosing engie .
be honest and work hard, engie is a professional business which asks its staff to be professional, the work can be high pressure and the need to be flexible is a must, I would advise someone who wishes to work for engie to make sure they do there homework on the company before they apply because knowing a little about the company before you apply goes a long way.
