  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves daily email checking of 3 different platforms. It can also involve changing different policies to enable emails through the Firewall. I am also involved in a number of different projects which require frequent work, this can be anything from firewall changes to attending meetings on a regular basis.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed a lot of skils while challenging my self during my apprenticeship. The main skills i have developed are team work and organisational skills. These are both vital skills to have in every job you carry out. Organsiational skills have developed due to the fact of having to balance different work loads as well as carrying out business as usual work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my training programme a lot as i get to travel to London to carry out my training. This has helped me meet new people working in the same industry as myself which can be extremely helpful in the future. The course material is extremely informative as well as enjoyable.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured however, there have been occasions when i have been let down my training provider. This refers to booking exams in wrong locations or not processing the booking in time and subsequently missing out. There have also been courses which have been changed last minute but i didn't receive any information about this.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My employer supports me a lot. They involve me in all tasks and meetings which helps educate me as well as being able to interact with different people. They also allow 2 hours a week for training which can be on anything i choose, this is on top of the 20% time each week where i can work on my coursework.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive a lot of support from my training provider. This involves almost bi-weekly calls to QA's Engie contract manager where we discuss next steps and how to improve. I also have a meeting with my skills coach each month, this is where my work can get marked an i get to receive feedback.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification I will receive upon completing my apprenticeship will be a Level 4 in Cyber Security. This will help me massively as i want to progress onto further education where i can develop my skills which i can use in the workplace. I have also maintained my education books gathered from each course which i can look back on in the future.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are a lot of activites to get involved in at work. There are daily 30 minute walks which takes place around lunch time but the time comes out of your work time and not your lunch. This is Engie's way to promote a healthy lifestyle by encouraging people to keep fit and active.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Equans to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend Engie to a friend as they go above and beyond to help with any issues i have in the work place or with my training provider. I have had a lot of opportunities with my apprenticeship, for example team building exercises in the Lake District which helps build a lot of skills.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Equans?
  • Advice i would give is just be yourself. Have a postive attitude and smile a lot, these 2 things a lot will encourage the employers at Engie that you would be a great fit within the company. This is due to the fact that everyone at Engie is usually very postivie about any challenges they encounter.
