1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
During this summer school, you are put into groups and have a project to complete for a presentation on the last day (Friday). Each member of the team has an integral part to play and may choose to specialise in one specific area of the team's project. You will also participate in some group activities and attend talks on relevant topics.
2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
As a part of this programme, I have been able to improve my teamwork skills and the ability to present ideas in a clear and coherent manner. Furthermore, my confidence when public speaking has improved due to the presentation element of this course. Moreover, my knowledge into the industry has improved due to the insightful talks which we were given.
3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
The summer school programme is fun and enjoyable. It has been great to meet like minded individuals and spend time in Bournemouth with a common goals. Moreover, it has been so beneficial to learn about the banking industry, something which I seek to potentially go into. It is great to work as a part of a team.
4. How valued do you feel by J.P. Morgan?
The staff who oversee the summer school programme really get to know you, even over the short duration of just a single week. Furthermore, everyone is treated in a professional and adult manner which gives you a further taste of the working world at J.P. Morgan. The value is also seen by the company providing lunches when on the summer school.
5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
At the beginning of the week, you will be presented with a timetable for your week which outlines each hour slot. This is broken down into group time (to prepare for your presentation) as well as mandatory sessions based on the investment banking industry. For example, the different roles within the company. Overall, it is a very well planned programme.
6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
Each day, the lead supervisor asks about the progress by your team the previous day and what your aims or targets are for that day. Moreover, throughout the day, the supervisors come round to check how you are finding the task and whether you need any further assistance or have any questions.

Despite only being a short programme, help is still provided. Each day, the lead supervisor asks about the progress by your team the previous day and what your aims or targets are for that day. 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
For the summer school programme, the only cost covered by J.P. Morgan is the lunch, which is always generous. Therefore, you must cover any accommodation and travel expenses to the location (Bournemouth University). However, I felt like the course was well worth the costs and would not expect the firm to cover my costs.
8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
The summer school programme only lasts for a week so you would not expect great amounts of opportunities. However, the group planned nights out on a couple of evenings which seemed like a good chance to get to know new people- these are outside of the working hours and will tend to be in central Bournemouth.
9. Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
J.P. Morgan has a fantastic reputation and any experience with the firm will look great for the CV. Furthermore, the experience you gain is valuable for your future.
10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
Ensure your online application is well written and you try very hard for the video interview.
