  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • HR Advisor - involves providing advice and guidance to line managers across the business. Facilitating HR meetings with management such as flexible working, absence, disciplinary and redundancy. I am also responsible for all paperwork such as invitation letters and outcome letter. Ad-hoc responsibilities include DSARs, invoices, wellbeing sessions and filing

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • The apprenticeship has taught me so much already and I am only 4 months in. The last unit covered strategy and this is something that I have never actually worked on before so it gave me great insight into this part of HR. I have also learnt how to implement many conflict resolution models and also improved my influencing and negotiating skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the apprenticeship as I have a natural thirst for learning and it satisfies that. The course has 8 units and they are really varied in topics giving you a broad understanding of the HR function which is the main reason I wanted to learn. I would recommend this apprenticeship.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Lloyds Banking Group?
  • This is hard for me to comment as I am employed by MBNA at present.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It has been a rocky start. There have been access issues with the AVADO site and also recruitment delays with ARCH apprenticeships. The delay ion appointing an LDC meant that we were not aware of exact expectations for the course when it started. It has improved over time and via feedback from us learners.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I deal with ARCH and AVADO, unsure which one is the training provider. ARCH are supportive, they can sometimes be slow at responding to content uploaded to HIVE. AVADO are supportive, particularly during tutor sessions, they are also slow at responding to things though. Such as Qs on the portal.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My manager is extremely supportive. From giving me time out of my role to helping me with my assignments. I am very lucky. The employer is also supportive as they have agreed for me to have 20% off the job time to complete this qualification and I am so grateful for that.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The apprenticeship does not cost me anything, which is fantastic. I would obviously love to have a pay increase, who wouldn't! I believe that once the apprenticeship is over and I am qualified, then I should be paid more in my role as I am more qualified, however, I would also be in a better position to apply for other roles that possibly have higher salaries.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I am not sure I understand this question - new role opportunities? Yes plenty. Education opportunites? Yes plenty but come with a price

  • 9. Would you recommend Lloyds Banking Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Lloyds Banking Group have a commitment to their employees that enables them to better themselves and develop their careers by gaining a professional qualification. This is also offered whilst being in employment, not only are you gaining the theoretical knowledge, you are being able to put it into practise too.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Lloyds Banking Group?
  • I would 100% recommend it. I would advise reaching out to other colleagues who have completed the same education as it helps to talk to someone who has been through the same experience. I would also advise to manage your time in a strict way as it is so easy to fall behind and get wrapped up in your BAU role.
