My role within the apprenticeship was an apprentice therapies assistant. I was responsible for seeing patients for Physiotherpay and Occupational Therapy sessions. I was also responsible for supporting professionals in the work place environment.
I have learnt to develop my communication skills, the importance of time keeping and being flexible.
I enjoyed the programme thoroughly and felt like I learnt a lot.
I felt very valued by the NHS and felt like my needs were being met.
I felt like the qualification side was poorly structured and a lot of what I learnt was not necessarily relevant to my job role.
I received a fair amount of support however I only saw my tutor once a month
I received a large amount of support from my managers and had regular supervision with my manager.
For the amount of responsibilities I had, I felt like the pay I received wasn't enough.
There were a lot of opportunities to attend training programs outside of work
Yes
While the pay is not much, the support I received made my job a lot more easier.
Make sure to make use of he people who are supporting you and don't be afraid to ask for help. When you first apply you may not know everything but you will learn soon enough.
