  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work for customer ervice with british gas. In an average day i answer calls for customer explanning this to them, taking payment and raising complaints.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have grown in confirdence and i have also achieved a level 1 maths and english qualifications. I have gained listening skills and also team workign skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I am enjoying the programme a lot at the moment and i even started looking in to different positions available to me after the apprenticeship is over.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Centrica?
  • I feel very valued, they look after us well and we are alwyas recognised by managers etc. They offer a great package and reward us when we deserve some recognition.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is okay, at the atart there was a lot of problems with my manager leaving and we were left without a team leader for a while but after our new team leader cheryl came into the team everything clicked and everyone started enjoing it a lot more.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As we are the first ever customer service apprenticeship i feel like the trainers etc have went over and above for us. Anyhting we are struggling with we will go over until we know it inside out.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel like we get a lot of support. At the moment we have weeky coaching plans therefore if there is anything we are struggling with of working on we have that one to one time with our manager to go oveer it.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is very good and fits me okay but as i have a long way to travel in the morning most of my budget is taken up with paying for my car, car insurance and also petrol.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • We are offered two volunteer days a year therfore we ca get days off work to do these. This is really good as it gives us a hnage of scenery and allows us to do something good with our time.

  • 9. Would you recommend Centrica to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a very friendly plae to work. There are loads of benefits to it, we have perkz which gives us big discount on phones etc and benefits plus which is extra money BG gives us and we can but techology with them and vocuher etc. Alos there are loads of way you can move up the ladder and there is a lot of different oppurtunities to improve.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Centrica?
  • Go for it and just be confident and dempnstarte all your skills they are looking for it is well worht it.
