  • 4. How valued do you feel by Centrica?
  • Difficult one to say as we are just starting out but honestly there is not a general good feeling from colleagues in my patch. I think British gas do value their staff but when people see other companies paying thousands of pounds more to their staff for the same roll as we are doing it is hard to stay positive.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured well and is interesting. There are some times that you feel could be better spent learning new subjects rather than going over things that have been proven to have been learnt and understood before. The mixture of academy and field work is good.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • As much as you require. They are very helpful and will always answer any questions you have.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • British gas is a huge company but so far seems to support and care for its staff. There is a extensive support network and lots of places to find answers to you questions.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • During the internship we are in a stepped pay structure that starts very low and takes a year to get to the advertised wage. I believe this could be stepped up a bit quicker during the internship. Then you discover other companies are paying much more for the same roll doesn't help the situation. It is hard to manage in this early period.

    5/10

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • I am unaware of any opportunities outside of work. If there are opportunities available I don't think we have been made aware of anything.

    4/10

  • 9. Would you recommend Centrica to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Long term prospects if you want to work for a large company. Good skills development is available but maybe not the best paying company in this field.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Centrica?
  • understand that the pay is very low to start and how this may effect you in the first year, trying to get a mortgage for example. Look at the other companies doing this roll and see if getting a lot more money or a long term plan is more important to you.
