I am a application developer and this involves learning how to use coding to make simple programs as well being able to test code and analyse where problems are.
I have learnt many skills over a very short period of time such as how to code in the java language. Along with this I have developed on a lot of my soft skills and especially my interpersonal skills.
The program is very enjoyable as I have the option to learn as well as work which to me is an ideal situation. Also everyone at the company is really friendly and is ready to go out of their way to help new starters.
I feel very valued by Accenture as I am sure all employees do because Accenture have fantastic incentives as well as teams created specifically to help employees.
The program is very well structured and we have been told what to expect over the coming three years which is also helpful. There are weekly quizzes which help to always keep me engaged in learning.
Our training provider has given a lot of learning material which is accessible online at pretty much any hour of the day. This really helps to make learning more flexible which I particularly like.
My employer gives tonnes of support through many different ways. Each apprentice has the option to learn from other apprentices who are slightly ahead of them and they also have their own careers counsellor which is also very helpful.
The salary is not a lot but it does manage to just about meet my costs. However I am pretty pleased with it because compared to other apprenticeships, it is quite a lot.
There are many opportunities which the company encourages employees to take part in such as charity activities, social events, leisure and sports clubs.
Yes
It is a type of company which is very large and can allow you to find out what you are truly good at by just simply working everyday and facing new challenges. Also the opportunities are endless.
Be confident when applying and make sure you do not rush your application. In my opinion there is no point applying I you're going to rush your application. If you struggle with filling forms, tests and interviews I would recommend completed a short course such as the one MTL (Making the Leap) provides.
