  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • i am currently in the Sourcing Department where i deal with suppliers on a weekly basis raising POs (purchase orders) to buy parts in from certain suppliers. I have also got involved with a few projects which including helping out organising a supplier symposium and also a prjoect designed to reshape the way the sourcing department stores all of their quotes, plus many other projects.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • so far i have developed myself as a person learning things about myself that i didnt know beforehand, this has allowed me to distinguish my strengths and weaknesses a lot easier so i can improve them as much as i can.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • i am very much enjoying at the programme at the minute, it is very social with all the other apprentices not just my own year and all management i have met so far have been all about trying to develop you even more in each department.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by GE Aerospace?
  • Very valued. I met someone who is very high up in GE's organisational structure and asked this sort of question and she responded saying how valued we all actually are and that we are the future of the company, so being told that is important as it shows that even that high up we are valued as apprentices

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • when we first arrived there were a few problems with access etc. but after it was all sorted it moved a lot quicker, however there are a few things that could still be deemed disorganised when it comes to certain aspects.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • we recieve a lot of support from our training provider as she is always available by email or phone if we ever have any questions we need answered

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • a lot, not only do we have our managers for support but we also have our apprenticeship leader aswell as many other employees around the business who will look after us or help us if we ever need helping. plus we get given a mentor who is there to nurture us through our apprenticeship

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • The salary is fantastic for someone my age and it is easily survivable on

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • absolutely, many clubs and other events are always offered to us, it is just up to us if we decide to do it

  • 9. Would you recommend GE Aerospace to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • because it is such a good opprtunity and that it can be seen as a more sensible option than University accept people never seem to hear about apprenticeships which is the problem


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to GE Aerospace?
  • present yourself in the best way possible and show the real person that you are, also try and get some work experience here with those on the apprenticeship scheme so you can experience it for yourself
