Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship

Role Responsibilities:

Surface Water Management:

  • Manage and monitor surface water management (SWM) inbox
  • Liaise with Engineers regarding applications and applicant queries
  • Organise pre-app meetings and raise payments
  • Respond to applicants, developers and local planning authorities
  • Answer general queries over the phone
  • Utilise DEF for logging applications and consultations

Team Support:

  • Answer the phone and respond to emails on general enquiries
  • Organise team meetings and events
  • Complete Historic Flood Information requests
  • Ad hoc support for flood alleviation scheme administration
  • Communication – videos, leaflets, web and process document updates
  • Other support tasks as required by the team 

Flood Investigations:

  • Receive and log flooding reports and enquiries into our Confirm database
  • Assess which reports need further investigation or site visits
  • Undertake site investigations and report writing
  • Undertake and compile desk-based studies for building investigation cases (GIS, Land Registry)
  • Communicate with members of the public and internal and external bodies

Additional Information:

As part of this role you will be involved in:

  • Desk and site-based flood investigations
  • Liaison with members of the public and internal and external colleagues
  • Project administration 
  • Consideration of differing technical designs 
  • Solving problems 
  • Writing reports 
  • Taking part in meetings discussing how a scheme should progress 
  • Collating information in Microsoft Excel 

Training to be provided

Digital Support Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Firebrand offers a unique Higher-Level IT Apprenticeship scheme that provides award-winning industry training and certifications, valuable work experience and offers on-going support all with the ultimate goal of securing you a long-term career within the world of technology
  • During your 16-month IT apprenticeship programme, Firebrand will provide residential training at our distraction-free training centre
  • Our method of accelerated training allows you to achieve industry-recognised certifications such as CompTIA, ITIL and Microsoft faster, giving you more time to put your new skills in to practice within a working environment
  • Firebrand will also provide you with a Learning Mentor who will be supporting and assisting you with your development
  • By the end of your 16 month apprenticeship, in addition to having numerous industry recognised qualifications (if applicable to the standard), a steady career with a supportive employer, you will also be recognised by the British Computer Society (BCS) for entry onto the register of IT Technicians, confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence

Desired qualifications

  • At least five GCSEs (or equivalent) at Grade C/4 or above including maths, English and either IT or Science
  • Ideally, you will have either a minimum of two A levels (or equivalent)

Things to consider

Working Conditions:

The following section provides an outline of the working conditions that may be encountered in this role.

  • You will often be the first point of telephone contact for the public, developers, consultants and other customers. A significant part of your role will therefore be to ensure that these queries are responded to in a timely way and particularly during core office hours, 9.00am – 4.00pm or otherwise agreed
  • Manual handling to include the lifting of objects, weekly requirement, up to 10kg
  • Display Screen Equipment and mobile device use
  • Work Environment:  working near water, lone working and outdoor work
  • Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) 
  • Use of HCC pool vehicles or own vehicle if required for work purposes
  • Please note, this is a permanent position.
