Where and what did you study?

Boston high school. A level Product design, Psychology and Media

What work experience did you have before joining Bakkavor?

Barista at different coffee shops

What attracted you to Bakkavor? Were you aware of the business before?

My dad works at Cucina Sano so I was already aware of how Bakkavor operated, and had an idea of what kind of environment it was to work in.

Can you talk us through what you did or are doing on the apprentice programme?

I am studying Levels 3 advanced engineering at Peterborough college, this include electrical theory, electrical insulation, hand fitting, turning and welding.

What were the highlights?

I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship so far, especially working within the engineering team at Wingland, where there is a vast amount of knowledge to learn from the engineers there.

What’s your current role? What are you responsible for? What do you do day to day?

Jobs vary greatly, I often shadow and help engineers as well as taking on some of my own repairs/maintenance.

What is the best thing about working for Bakkavor?

Bakkavor seems very organised and an innovative company.

What’s it like in your team?

The team have been really welcoming and have made it easy to quickly become part of the team.

How would you describe the Bakkavor culture as a whole?

Team orientated

Is there any advice you would give to someone thinking about applying for the Bakkavor Apprentice programme?

Bakkavor offers a way of learning in a very stimulating environment; if you’re looking to start in a career in engineering Bakkavor is a great way to do it.
