  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am currently on the Level 6 Chartered Management Apprenticeship, working as Customer Account Manager. This role is fast paced and focuses on selling Unilever products to customers and how we activate them instore.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed my time management skills, through doing my role and my university work at the same time. I have also improved my organisation and time management, that is needed in my role and my university work.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • This is second apprenticeship programme with Unilever and enjoyed both. Unilever is great to putting you straight into roles and giving you responsibility allowing you to learn so much about the business and your own skills.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The structure of my programme is great, as once a quarter I go into University for a week where I learn my module then come away to complete my essays in my weekly study time. This structure make it easier to manage around my role.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received lots of support from my line manager, career sponsor, functional lead and wider team. It would be nice to see our Apprentice Pay be improved to help financially support us better.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • The lectures are great at supporting with University work through quick teams calls or email. They are very understanding of the fact we have jobs to do at the same time. I also have an Work based learning tutor that you can discuss more personal things with if needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Learning business management has massively helped my role, as I understand how best to work with teams and motivate others, which is ideal in a collaborative role like mine.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There is also lots of fun social events going on, whether that is with your team, wider department, the apprentices or the whole office.

  • My tip to applying for Unilever is to consider your purpose and why this resonates with what Unilever does.
