I am an administrator in an in-house recruitment department for an independent Estate Agency/Property business. I help to monitor the shared recruitment email, screen and upload CV's, process interview notes, complete RTW checks, reference checks, and make sure our new starters are getting the support they require.
I developed and grew my competencies in all areas as this was a part of passing the apprenticeship, but mostly improved my confidence and gave myself the knowledge/tools to have difficult conversations and help to advise and guide the my recruitment colleagues. I took on referencing for the company and learnt the importance of confidentiality and being responsible for this data.
I really enjoyed my Programme, however I did find the self-studying quite difficult at times. I would have loved the opportunity to have some level of face to face teaching or studying. Even if this was once a month being invited to a classroom based activity in person. However, the content was really interesting to be and was quite relevant.
I'd say really well structured. The content was a mix of reading, videos, and interactive sections. There were summary tests at the end of each section which helped to reinforce what you had read/learnt about. I also found the activities/self-study research I had to do at the end of each unit, as this also helped to reinforce what I had just learnt, whilst relating it to my own reality/business.
I was the first person to do this qualification in my business, so the support was minimal, however I probably should have asked for more and that is my fault. The HR scene is going through major development, so there were quite a few things Spicerhaart was missing which I couldn't use within my practical research. They supported me in other ways.
My skills-coach was absolutely fantastic, she gave me an abundance of support, both practically and mentally. If I ever asked for extra sessions, she was there no questions asked and was there to bounce ideas off of. I don't think I could have done this without her.
Very much so, and really in the sense of how much my professional confidence grew whilst doing this qualification. I learnt new things, but in a formal setting which gave me self-assurance of my ability to advise and give input into conversations. But just my confidence mentally too, I became better at facilitating conversations and giving credible input. For example, advising recruiters in my office why they couldn't do certain things, or what was the right actions going forward. I also helped to enforce the importance of more trackable metrics such as time to hire.
Not particularly. We have Christmas work events, and have individual team events, and we have a charity that does auctions. I feel there is an opportunity to do more extra-curricular activities at work, however this is very much down to the responsibility of individuals to arrange.
Yes
Spicerhaart as a whole does value their employees, the training for our sales staff is industry leading which means employees are being invested into from day one. As a whole, we have amazing reward, recognition, and commission schemes, especially if you work hard (which is the kind of people we want to attract anyway).
It is a business where you will be expected to work hard, however you are remunerated properly for that hard work. The property industry is certainly not easy, but if you're present at our training sessions and you put in the hard work from day 1, you will learn good skills, grow as a person, win awards, be recognised in the business, and earn money.
