  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role requires one day a week which is declared as a study day. In this day I complete all my university work and ensure I am on top of all assignments. We have knowledge, skills and behaviours which we learn during the degree time. These knowledge, skills and behaviours are then adopted to the workplace where we apply these to our day to day role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes, at IBM there are so many social events and activities to take part in. I am apart of some networking events that occur. These are more one off events rather than a social.

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend IBM to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • IBM is an amazing diversified business to be apart of. The amount I have learned in such a short space of time is brilliant, but also I am surrounded by great minds who inspire me every day. My role models are now my colleagues and my efforts to my degree apprenticeship and my role are now amplified due to the support I receive and the positive attitudes I am surrounded by.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to IBM?
  • Stick to a routine. Ensure in the mornings you prepare for your day, write down the main tasks for the day and work through them in an order of priority each day. Practise taking on constructive criticism and make sure to apply it. IBM employees have a standard to their work and you need to be able to take on feedback without taking it personally. Try to network and be face to face with colleagues as much as possible. I’d say working on organisation and effective communication is the most important traits to try to accomplish.
