  • My role involves contractural and financial management of rail projects.

  • I have learnt a lot about the construction industry, finance and management skills.

  • I do enjoy my apprenticeship and the college have provided brilliant support and guidance throughout my Level 4-6 programme.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The apprenticeship programme is very well structured, with set out weeks to attend university in Leeds. Our teachers are all very organised and the course itself is very well delivered, with content based on London south banks content.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My direct site team are very supportive and understanding whilst I am away at college/university studying, and allow me time to have the break from work and focus on my studying. My team attend my college related check in meetings as required and support me.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Leeds college of building and its staff have been very supportive throughout my time studying with them. The lecturers are great within the lessons and very engaging, and always available online when help is requested. This also extends to outside our set blocks, for additional support when revising and completely coursework.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification, from level 4 through to level 6, has been invaluable to my role. At the start of the programme, I had never worked in construction before and it provided me with a great basis before starting work on site. Although not every subject feels relevant, it has provided me with a great background into many elements within the industry, for application at work.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • BAM provide networking events in the form of commercial forums, roadshows and award shows.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • BAM has been a great place to begin my construction career and Leeds college of building have provided a brilliant place to study towards my qualifications. My partner is in the industry, and in comparison to his provider, LCB go above and beyond.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • Attend the assessment centre with a great background knowledge, engage with the interviewer and goodluck.
