  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am a trainee Civil Engineer based at the Silvertown Tunnel. My day-to-day duties include surveying and setting out, management and planning of works, resource allocation and management. I am site based, with a few hours in the office each day.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am constantly developing my time-mangement skills, juggling the degree work and site work can be difficult. I have aslo developed good communication and listening skills. Problme solving comes everyday on the job, overcoming these issues requires interpersonal and management skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed this apprenticeship. I have had the opportunity to work and learn on the one of kind project. I have met some amazing people who are great connections to have!

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I always know who to contact and if they dont give me the answer then they will be able to direct me to the person who does. I always find out about things with enough notice.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I always feel supported and theres always more than one person that I can think of who would be able to help me with something that I need. I always have the opportunity to request training. The company as a whole really caere for thier employees wellbeing.

  • The college are really helpful and give us lots of information when we are there!

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Definitely, it gives us an insight into other job roles too! Its good to be getting technicial knowledge from the college while we are getting the practical experience on site.

  • Yes

  • I have really enjoyed my time working for Bam. They really care about the development of thier employees and thier wellbein. I have always felt valued and cared for.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAM?
  • Just be yourself! If you show that you are passionate and enthusiastic then you will be a good match for working at Bam.
