My role is to shadow the Safety Facilitator in Steel and Slab. Going to meetings, taking notes and actions. Assigning actions through teams and emails. Reviewing PPE stock and ordering more if it is needed. Presenting local inductions for new starters. Facilitating weekly meetings. Organising files and documents. Assigning monthly audits for colleagues.
I have had the opportunity to take part in many courses and developed my skills greatly, especially working with a team, my confidence for presenting has also improved greatly.
The transition in the beginning was quite slow, I felt as if I wasn't being told what to do and many times I would be sitting around expected to do things I was never shown how to do. Now I am a lot more comfortable in my role and have picked things up easily. With the business position at the moment it is quite unsettling not knowing whether we will still be here.
I get loads of support from my training provider and greatly feel I will gain a great qualification with their help.
Yes there have been many opportunities to get involved with other apprentices and colleagues and get to socialise on other things excluding work.
No
It is a great place to work just not the best to join right now as the business' future is not promised.
