Software Engineer Review

In my role I do multiple things such as web development using PHP, CSS, HTML and JavaScript, using software such as SQL to store and collect data from websites, build scripts through C# to apply rules to websites, operations and much more. I also do maintenance and hardware calibrations for a high frame rate image displayer software

I have learned and developed multiple skills during my apprenticeship such as, learning the basics of PHP when creating a webpage, how to navigate, create and enter data into a SQL table, further develop my C# so I can apply it to scripts we use as well as my overall social skills

I am currently enjoying my apprenticeship programme right now as I feel the hands on experience I am gaining is really helping me develop my skills and progress down this career path. I also find it rewarding when I complete a hard or complicated task as I feel satisfied that I managed to create it, fix and bugs and complete it.

I feel my apprenticeship structure is organised very well, I have nine till six for going to University on Monday which give me a good amount of time to cover everything i need to learn in detail. Then Tuesday to Friday I work eight till four which is average work hours for most people around the site i work on so i would say it good,

I receive the support I need to get on with my work and make progress from my colleagues but would like to see my Line manager support me in my work more as one of my colleagues is leaving soon which means there will be only 2 qualified people left in my office to train me

When working towards my qualification, the training provide helps me to understand any work that I may find confusing or be stuck on. Also whenever I ask for time to work on my qualification I am provided with the time to sit down and make good progress ready for when I go to university on the Monday.

My qualification from the training provider really helps me in my role. The training covers everything I need for software engineering, and it's practical too. It gives me the skills to handle tasks well and contribute effectively in my job. It also gives me the experience for my future career in software engineering.

There is not many extra curricular activities I know about currently as i am a first year apprentice here and not sure on what goes on during the year but I know Tata Steel does host a Christmas works do near the end of our working week close to Christmas which is good.

Tata Steel is a very well known company meaning you can be sure that the company wont go under or wont treat you any less than anyone else. Tata steel also take actions for there workers to be very safe whenever they enter any mechanical area by providing them lots of training on what to do in certain situations such as fires and provide full reflective protective gear to keep them out of harm.

To make sure you do research into the company before the interview such as what the Tata Steel site you are applying for produces as well as know what you are applying for and make sure you are able to understand the role you want to enter and show that you are passionate and determined to get the role .
