  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Undertake project related tasks, take part in meetings either in office or on site/ client offices. Work with my project team to support its progression and manage specific processes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Communication, problem solving and scheduling are key skills that I have developed since starting my apprenticeship. The job role heavily involves organisation, making sure key milestones are hit, or deadlines are met. It is also team orientated, and helps develop relationships and communication skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the variety offered within my programme from working in different places, getting exposure to different environments and large scale projects. The people that I've met have mostly been great people and it has allowed me to learn and enjoy different aspects of the role further.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is well structured in terms of education - work as a ratio. I have enough time to study well and also gain real world experience through working as an apprentice. The progression path is also clearly laid out, and expectations are set from the get go.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a good amount of support in terms of professional development and also well being support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • UCEM offer a good range of tools and support mechanisms that can be used to help when studying, or potentially struggling with certain topics. Regular check ups take place and 1-1 sessions with tutors can be arranged.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I am still fairly new to my role but I've been able to apply things that I've learnt in my course to my day to day activities. Understanding theory also makes it easier to know how/when/why certain things are done, and are mostly useful in the workplace.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Mace participate in many different social activities on a regular basis which helps develop relationships with colleagues. They also have sports teams such as football, which we play fairly often mostly in charity events with other companies in the industry. Things such as yoga are also ran in the office.

  • Yes

  • There are lots of good opportunities in the company to develop professionally within the industry and also to learn many transferable skills.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Be keen to learn and not afraid to voice your opinion. Mace pride themselves as being inclusive to all, so make sure to be yourself, but also be ready to apply yourself and work hard.
