  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Am an MEP Apprentice (Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health) where my role involves learning and assisting with the installation, maintenance and repair of various systems within a building. This also includes ventilation, heating, plumbing and lighting systems. On a day to day basis, I shadow my manager with tasks like joining meetings and helping out with checks out on site (mainly risers), I also participate in training sessions to help develop my skills further and I ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards are met while on site which also helps with gaining more hands-on experience

  • Communication skills with fellow work colleagues, Problem solving, safety skills (PPE worn while out on site), Technical skills (Watching and learning the installation of different systems like Lighting), Adaptability skill (Adapting to getting used to my time on site and time to spend at the head office in a quiet space).

  • Tips or Advice: Always make your research about the various job opportunities at mace and apply for the one you fit in well, Connect with former employees or apprentices and listen to their experiences and find out what you can do better and relate back to your role, Stay confident throughout the application process and lastly make sure you prepare questions that are likely to be asked at an interview for an apprentice and ones for graduates!
