  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role involves assisting on the financial side of a Construction Project. Day to day I will either be working in the office, working from home, at University or on site. My daily tasks include, monthly valuations and cost reports, invoice tracking and measurements for cost estimates.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed skills in confidence, independence and communication. I have learnt new skills such a role specific skills.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I thoroughly enjoy my programme. I enjoy the balance of working 80% of the week and studying the other 20%. My programme enables me to develop through being given opportunities and responsibilities at the very start of my career \nd gaining valuable work experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is very well structured. I am given one day a week where I am not expected to work and I will attend university. I have a great mix of online and virtual training with other apprentices in my cohort and I know exactly who to contact if I have any issues.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive support daily from my line manager. All my other colleagues in the office are willing to support me if I have any questions and are very understanding of the fact I am brand new to the construction industry.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My degree apprenticeship training coordinator is great at assisting with any queries or concerns I may have about my university course and is great at giving feedback to the uni to ensure I am supported.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I learn so much brand new information at university which helps me greatly at work; such as how a building is made up and learning terminology that was once alian to me. It helps me to develop in my role far quicker as I am learning technical knowledge and skills whilst working.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are lots of social and wellbeing events which I have attended as well as helped organise. These are great to enable you to get to know your team members better and build a stronger relationship.

  • Yes

  • Mace has been a brilliant start to my career. I have had fantastic opportunities and responsibilities right from the start.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • Familiarise yourself with Maces values to ensure they align with your own. Understand your existing passion and which job role this would most likely relate to. Be yourself; Mace are extremely inclusive and want to diversify the company even further.
