  • Looking after patient care. Monitoring vital observations, administering medication as prescribed, providing pre and post operative care. Escalating any deterioration to the appropriate team in a timely manner and ensure adequate documentation

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have gained skill in wound management, safe administration of medication, escalating deterioration in a safe and effective manner. I have also improved immensely on my communication skills and working as part of a multidisciplinary team and building on my leadership skills

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoyed the programme immensely because it gave me the opportunity to explore different aspect of nursing i could explore as I progress in my career. I also had the opportunity to meet with very talented lecturers who were able to share their knowledge and skills to produce future nurses.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program was structured well but there are rooms for little improvement, in areas such as spacing out assignments. Only because we are adults learners and we have placement, work, family and school to deal with in a very short period.

  • I received a lot of support from my employer. Particularly from my ward manager and the sisters on the ward I.e the Band 6

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • A lot of support was received from the lecturers, the apprenticeship lead and the course lead in other to achieve the qualification am working to acquire

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • A lot. My way of approaching situation at work has improved immensely. I am more confident in my role. I am able to plan in a timely and effective manner and now when to escalate if I have any concerns. I am also more reflective than before the programme started

  • Yes

  • They are very supportive of staff development. The also invest staff development and wellbeing


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • Let your intentions known from the beginning of your employment in the company, that you are willing to progress your career and get to know if your future aspirations align with the company values
