  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My daily tasks include admin work on a whole: creating agendas, note taking, booking meetings, etc. My daily interactions internally are mostly via email on Teams calls. My daily interactions externally require for me booking meetings and enquiring about availabilities. My responsibilities include creating agendas and being a timely person.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I've learnt many new skills: from becoming more technically coordinated, as I use Office 360 throughout my whole working day, to bettering my communications through my daily interactions with my co-workers and team members, and admin/secretarial work on a whole as I gain more experience in my working environment.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support: from my training provider towards my qualifications: from discussions about my career/future and aspirations, to attending meetings with my trainer. I receive an entire day every single week dedicated to my studies. In my regular catch-ups with my line manager, we discuss my qualifications and I am given support with it also.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My qualification helps me perform better in my role because it helps me understand the fundamentals of my organisations through the learning that I do, and more importantly, the why. Why do we do what we do? I understand my organisations' ethos better which enables me to become a better team-player.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are always extra-curricular activities at my workplace, from programmes that aid your wellbeing, workshops that better your communications with colleagues, team-building exercises, confidence workshops, to diversity awareness, etc. We also have away-days offsite for everyone in a specific team to attend as well as parties such as our annual Christmas parties.

  • 9a. Would you recommend NHS to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Because working for the NHS is flexible: your needs can be catered to and therefore it makes you feel more valued within the organisation. Moreover, there is great career progression from working within the organisation as it is a hierarchal structure, so you work up the hierarchy- which have many benefits. It is a great working environment where we have a non-judging culture which is emphasised as well as through our well-being champions.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to NHS?
  • My advice would to be yourself and ensure you demonstrate this within you job application and interview as we are a non-judging organisation. NHS Dorset is looking for someone who can carry out the job requirements, but also someone who is dedicated, has motivation and has a personality that shines in the workplace.
