  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Updating excel workbooks, contacting the client with queries and closing these out, team meetings and coaching from different team members during Teams calls or in person, creating trackers for the coming review whether that be year end or quarterly reporting reviews, organising lunch and learns and smaller sub team social events

    7/10

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Learnt new people skills including how to build relationships and also how to interact with the client, massively improved my excel skills and knowledge and now use these every day, using EY canvas where we keep all the files so everyone can access them, learnt to figure tasks out myself and ask questions where necessary

    8/10

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy working with the people that I work with as I relate to them in a lot of ways and we all have similar interests, I also enjoy learning valuable new skills including soft skills that I will be able to carry forward into future jobs, and I enjoy receiving feedback

    6/10

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • In terms of exams and college time it is well structured although we are not always informed that far in advance as to when we should expect to be in college and when we should be able to take our annual leave so that it does not impact our college time.

    7/10

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • My team provides support during my learning and training on the job, and EY also emphasise the offer for more general support from HR and our counsellors

    7/10

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My employer supports the qualification I am achieving with leave during college time and exams. They also grant extra leave for resits if necessary

    8/10

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The information that I learn during my qualification is beneficial in helping me perform in my role, however due to the very tight time windows we have to do the exams, a lot of what I learn is only in my short term memory therefore does not benefit me massively in my role as I do not remember it all

    5/10

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes we have a main team social a few times a year which is around 60 people and we have also started having sub team socials with just my team which is around 8/9 people. There is also the big summer networking event and sports teams that are available to join.

    7/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Whilst it is hard work and long hours sometimes, I have met amazing people here and it is a good start to my career to have the opportunity to gain a qualification from such a highly regarded company. Busy season is difficult but the rest of the year is often 9-5 so it works out okay overall.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EY?
  • Talk about your skillset and why that would make you good for the job, emphasis customer/client facing roles you have done in the past and do some research into the company before applying.
