  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Working as an Senior Associate in audit. Working mainly on statutory audits for clients in the Private Equity / Debt sector. Been there for 2.5 years now with about half a year to go until I fully qualify. Really like the atmosphere of the firm and all the people there.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I am working towards my Chartered Accountancy qualification. I very recently confirmed that I have passed all exams meaning I am now fully exam qualified. These cover finance, accounting, tax and audit. I have developed skills in all of these areas. I started the job with no background at all in finance or accounting.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I would highly recommend the programme to graduates. I think you get great exposure to interesting clients. The format of the exams means you build really strong foundational knowledge and get to develop that on client work. You work with other graduates meaning you can develop good relationships which is great.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say it's very well structured. There is decent communication from both the provider of the college work and also the internal teams at my firm. There is a dedicated graduate student team who assist you throughout your three years. They are always reachable so I really appreicate that.

  • In my two years at the audit firm, I've received consistent and valuable support from my employer. Whether through professional development opportunities, mentorship programs, or a collaborative work environment, the support has been instrumental in my growth and effectiveness as a team member. Overall I would say the support is good.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider has been a crucial source of support in my pursuit of qualifications over the past two years. They offer comprehensive resources, regular feedback, and accessible guidance, enabling me to navigate the complexities of my training. The commitment to my professional development has been evident through tailored programs and responsive assistance, enhancing my confidence and competence in meeting the requirements of my qualifications.

  • My qualification from the training provider has significantly contributed to my performance in my role over the two years. It has equipped me with the necessary skills, knowledge, and insights that directly apply to the challenges in the audit field. The structured curriculum and practical components of the qualification have enhanced my abilities, making me more effective and confident in carrying out my responsibilities at the audit firm.

  • At my workplace, we have engaging extra-curricular activities that foster team bonding. We participate in department socials, including fun events like dodgeball. It's not only enjoyable but also contributes to a more cohesive and supportive work environment. Additionally, these events provide opportunities to build professional relationships in a relaxed setting, enhancing the overall workplace experience.
