  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Learning about electrical appliances and electrical equipment. How to fix these using different fault finding techniquies, college on some days and logging all of the jobs we do. Working on site with a qualified mentor on how to do these things when you are actually on site after the 4 years

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt many skills while working on this aapprentishio. I have learnt skills such as fault finding and also have gained knowledge on me did skills such as ac motors transformers, consumer units transformers and many more. I have gained lots of different skills here and will continue to learn

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I really enjoy my apprenteshio so far I was concerned that I would not enjoy it but I do a lot. I will continue to do what I am told and enjoy the apprentship. After I am finished I am sure that I will continue to enjoy the work I don

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is very well structured. I have a very professional and well mannered team of instructors that provide me with the correct information and needs that are neeeded. Never a day goes by where there isn’t some tn img to do that seems important to what I want I’m my future

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • As stated before, the instructors and employees are all very well mannered and professional. If there is any problems within the work then I know they will be there to help me when needed. This involves anything from work within the job or any problems that I am having outsite

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training providers and also my instructors give great support and help to my qualifications. If there is any problems I know I can count on them to help me get through these and teach me the knowledge that I need to improve or that I need to get better

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My role is a very specific and crucial part to work within the port talbot plant and the qualifications that I have gained and are gaiankmg have taught me all of the knowledge that is needed. I will continue to gain more qualifications so I am better fitted for more jobs on the future

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many things such as daily walks. I have not yet been involved in any of these activities but I’m sure one day I would love to get involved. Seeing friends from the apprenticeship outside of work is also fun as the people I work with are great

  • 9a. Would you recommend Tata Steel to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The work is fun if you choose a role which you want to do. The employers and management are all very friendly and easy to get along with. I would say that the work is easy if you love it as learning more about it is fun and enjoyable x


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Tata Steel?
  • I would say to any one who is looking to join tata steel as an apprentice that they should come in with good expectations and a happy head as they will be in a good place there is a lot of friends people here and good vibes all around the place
