  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work as a cost consultant . My job entails a variety of quantity surveying duties, with a focus on cost planning and estimation for impending building projects as well as other surveying services like appraisals. Depending on the activities I have to complete, a typical day in my job could involve going to the job site, coming into the office, performing various tasks on projects I am assigned to, as well as assisting other members of my team. For instance, one day I might be measuring amounts from a drawing, and the next day I might be attending meetings to discuss project-related changes.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have definitely developed new skills in addition to my previous ones. For instance, as a result of being exposed to an atmosphere where communicating with those around me has a significant influence, my communication skills have risen dramatically. This has positively challenged me to communicate more effectively. In addition, I've picked up new abilities like Excel. Prior to joining, I had only very limited experience with Excel and could only use it in very basic ways. However, I now feel confident opening and using it in a variety of situations and have gotten really good at it.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The show is something I really like. My expectations for the apprenticeship with Mace were surpassed, and I enjoy working in the environment that Mace offers me. In addition, I enjoy my coursework at London South Bank University, and overall I have been pleased with the programme in terms of both training and employment.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme, in my perspective, is well structured. To make it as simple as possible for apprentices to get taught, obtain different certificates, and learn at work while becoming proficient in their profession, Mace has made a clear effort to streamline the apprenticeship process/program. In addition, the Apprentice Emerging Talent Team is highly accommodating and helpful when inquiries regarding the business, the apprenticeship, or general matters arise

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel that Mace provides me with adequate support, and I have always felt that my apprenticeship is supported in every manner. I believe that I am sufficiently supported at Mace since Mace enables me to always ensure that my workload is suitable and well balanced between job and school.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My training provider provides me with adequate assistance as I pursue my certification. If I have a question about my course or the credentials, London South Bank University always makes sure that there are people who can be easily accessed and contacted. The professors are also incredibly supportive and helpful to me all the time.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe that my education is essential to assisting me in my work. For instance, the modules I am taking in my Quantity Surveying course at University closely relate to my work and help me advance in my position at Mace more quickly.I am learning a lot than i expected.I am also building confidence

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Regular professional networking events are just one of the many extracurricular activities that Mace sponsors. They also offer numerous volunteer opportunities for everyone at Mace to participate in. Mace supports the sporting events at all costs because the company knows the importance of such activities .We also invite colleagues from other companies

  • 9a. Would you recommend Mace to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • I would suggest Mace to any friend or family because I think they are great in the programmes they deliver and my work is interesting and gives me a sense of purpose. Additionally, they collaborate with some of the greatest training providers, so all in all, I would highly suggest them.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Mace?
  • In interviews, I would advise being authentic because no one from Mace will criticise you and they will understand that you are an apprentice applying. If this is your first interview, you could feel anxious. As you demonstrate your interest in the firm and the reasons you want to work there, educate yourself on Mace and its principles
