  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • A significant portion of my daily work  involves shadowing. This comprises training under and working with the existing qualified maintenance and control associates. Whether this relates to the interfaces and systems they use or to actual tasks like maintaining, repairing, and upgrading machines and equipment. I also check fault systems and repair them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have acquired an incredible amount of new skills through my apprenticeship. Along with my present skill set, these new skills have also been developed further. Another important feature of this apprenticeship is the breadth of abilities that are taught, including business acumen, web development, milling, welding, pneumatics, and electrical.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like the programme for a number of reasons. The programme offers a variety of fresh experiences and opportunities, with a wide range of options available to apprentices, whether it be the practical application of the material taught in class or the fact that any day can be different from the preceding.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program's overall organisation is excellent. First year is devoted to time spent exclusively in training school. After this, in the second year, attention is devoted to finishing placements through rounds within the company. You will have picked your final placement by the third year, however not every placement is open for selection. In these final regions, apprentices work in shifts over the final year.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • This query means different things to different people, in my opinion. The appointed training manager initially provides as much, if not more, support. They maintain a good working relationship while giving us just the right amount of support and assistance, making sure we always have someone to talk to and hear from.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In my perspective, the training provider's support is generally good. The individual instructors for the classroom lectures are constantly prepared and eager to offer assistance on topics and themes as needed. The training school workshop personnel, who are once again easily ready to help if needed, reciprocates this support.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • Most of the information I have acquired or been taught as part of my training qualifications has not had an immediate impact on or used as a reference for what is needed in my day-to-day roles. I am aware that some of the topics covered will be crucial for upcoming responsibilities, and the information I have will be useful in such roles.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • The chances to participate in extracurricular activities have grown steadily over time. The charity champions team plans and oversees the majority of formal work-related activities, most recently a football competition. Another recent development is the creation of the apprentice network, which aims to connect trainees from various plants and departments.

  • 9a. Would you recommend BMW Group to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • This apprenticeship offers an excellent chance. This apprenticeship offers the chance to advance into higher education while simultaneously learning priceless real-life skills, from the variety of practical skills learned to the fact that the degree is fully financed. Additionally, it fosters indirect abilities that are learned by experience rather than being taught in a classroom.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BMW Group?
  • Recognise the position for which you are applying. If you know that the role is something you are interested in, it will be fantastic that this opportunity requires a 4-year commitment. In addition, the company of BMW offers a wide variety of different roles in other divisions, so regardless of whether the role suits you, there is an opportunity to switch to and advance elsewhere within the company.
