  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role includes, working stock *deliveries and backstock*, providing good customer service, keeping the store clean and tidy, ensuring there aren’t any off sales, apply reductions on products that share the same date as the day, scanning customers shopping, making sure stock rotations has been taken place and working with my team members to ensure customers are leaving the store satisfied.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have never worked in retail before so learning the ropes of the job was difficult. When it comes to something new I learnt is working stock correctly and knowing what effect ur may have in the business and manual handling. When it comes to developing skills I have really pushed myself to come out my comfort zone and work on my confidence.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have really enjoyed the last 18 months at Aldi. I work with really amazing people who have pushed me to do better and to always keep trying to improve. They have fully supported my goals and aims and have even made me exceed their goals. Overall I am enjoying my time with Aldi.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The program it’s self is well organised and structured, especially from life times training side. The only thing I felt was left short was the off the job learning part, I had a lot of off and in periods where I would have lots of off the job learning to then barley having any at all. I know my sector runs on a seasonal calendar but I wish there was more structure where my learning in work was involved.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The amount of support I have gained over my employers can be described as emotionally overwhelming. I have never had managers and even members of staff push me to strive to be better. I would say I’m a perfectionist, I like things to be a certain way. My employers have push that boundary and have really helped me to have the skills I need to complete my apprenticeship. Overall I receive so much good support from them all.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I would like to give a special shoutout to my learning coach Helen Little. The amount of support she has given me this year have been amazing. She has taught me so much, always replies to my emails with guides and advice and overall has been one of the best teachers I have had. She is really a credit to her work.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • My training provider really helped me preform better in my role by always encouraging me to go the extra mile. This could be from taking any off the job learning and putting it into practice to doing extra reading a research to help my understanding further for the organisation I work for.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are many social activities to get involved in at aldi. For example the teen cancer run marathon in London. The DSM from Kendal who is leading the run, I find as, is very inspirational. We can find all this information on our organisations work app and get ourselves involved

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aldi to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Aldi is a hard working organisation, I have never worked for a big business before, only local. Aldi have really made my weakness into strengths and I have grown so much into the organisation. Everyone I have worked with is so friends lot and easy to talk to including management.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aldi?
  • Be yourself, don’t panic, be prepared. By being yourself it allows us to see who you are and you being an individual. Don’t panic about the store experience, it’s so we can get to know you and you to get to know us. Finally be prepared, do some light reading on the business. Understand who you are working for, you never know what you may be asked.
