Mental health practitioner - assess and support clients with common mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
The key aspects of the job role - assessing clients that self-refer into the service or are referred by other professionals. Then to treat clients using CBT principles/techniques - mainly anxiety and depression related.
Very much - I learnt an enormous amount and felt supported by those in the university team that provided the training.
Always knew what we were doing and when, including assessments and assignment deadlines and criteria.
Reasonable, could have had more.
Frequent support and practice sessions (additional if requested, additional help where identified/needed, clear guidance regarding deadlines and criteria.
Could not perform my role without the training.
Some wellbeing activities but for me they are not realistic / accessible - in terms of when / where they are held.
Yes
It depends - Yes if the person wanted the same qualification (and understood what the role entails), however, I would council them regarding the intensity of training plus subsequent type of work and workload. I could not do the job without the support of my cohort colleagues.
Before applying, be clear on the intensity of the training, the additional hours over and above the work you do within service and the university contact. Also, understand what the role entails, particularly regarding patient level of risk - acuity of patients verses service remit (they don't always match).
